1. Used in clean room air conditioning purification system
This is the main application direction of air filter media. Clean room air-conditioning systems usually have three filters. Generally, coarse and medium-efficiency air filters are installed in the air conditioning unit, and air filters are added at the end of the air supply. The filter materials of the coarse-efficiency air filter mainly include glass fiber, PP, PET, and metal wire mesh, which can filter out dust particles above 5 µm; except for the metal mesh, other materials of the medium-efficiency air filter are similar to those of the coarse effect, but Its fiber diameter is smaller and can effectively filter dust particles above 1µm. HEPA filters are mainly made of ultra-fine glass fibers and PP materials; the sodium flame method efficiency of domestic ultra-fine glass fibers can reach 99.99999, but in recent years, membrane filtration has gradually penetrated into this field. Clean rooms can generally be divided into two categories: industrial clean rooms and biological clean rooms. Industrial clean rooms are mainly used in certain production processes that require high air cleanliness, which mainly include the electronics industry, film, optical instruments and machinery, etc., like in the electronics industry, certain processes in the production of ultra-large-scale integrated circuits. The controlled particle size of suspended particles in the air has been reduced to 0.1 µm. The biological clean room not only has requirements for the indoor dust concentration, but also has requirements for the number of bacteria. The bacteria attached to the dust particles can be filtered out through the filter, which mainly includes the food industry, operating room, pharmaceutical factory, and biological laboratory.
2. Used in ordinary air-conditioning system
Ordinary air-conditioning systems generally install coarse-efficiency air filters in the air-conditioning unit, and for those with higher requirements, install medium-efficiency air filters after the coarse-efficiency air filters.
3. Ordinary household use
This mainly includes household air conditioners and air purifiers. Most of the filter materials used in household air conditioners are ordinary plastic woven filters with large pores that can only filter out larger dust particles. Indoor air purifiers are another potential market for air filtration materials. Indoor air quality has been a hotspot of research since the 1990s. The air contains smoke, mold, spores, bacteria, fibers, dust particles, etc. How to eliminate these pollution and create a better indoor air environment is vital to human health . Air purifiers are an effective way to remove indoor pollutants. The filter material of air purifiers is generally ultra-fine glass fiber. Air purifiers have developed rapidly abroad. Ordinary air purifiers cannot remove harmful indoor gases. The composition of these gases is very complicated. Only the cigarette smoke contains hundreds of gas components, plus the aldehydes and benzenes emitted from the decoration materials, and various pollution sources emit CO, SO2, NOX, NH3, etc. directly endanger human health. To eliminate this hazard, functional air filtration materials must be used. Commonly used materials are activated carbon or activated carbon fiber.
